The monthly charge for sanitation service to residential customers is $18.86 for two pick-ups per week of household refuse and one weekly pick-up of yard trash.   The 90-gallon container used in our automated system is provided free of charge by the ECUA.

Additional 90-gallon containers, up to four (4), are available for an added fee.

Senior Rate and Senior Lifeline Rates
The ECUA offers two refuse collection discount services for senior citizens meeting certain guidelines. The purpose of the special program is to provide senior citizens with a limited residential garbage collection service at a discounted service fee based on the traditionally lower volume of refuse generated by seniors. The two special refuse collection services are the Senior Citizen Lifeline Rate and Senior Citizens Rate.

Current Senior Citizen Lifeline Rate $ 8.98
Current Senior Citizen Rate $15.82

For further details, or to sign up for these programs, please call our Customer Service Center at 476-0480.

Special Services
Special services are available for the disposal of bulk items, moving cartons, or for customers who need special assistance. For more information, please contact our Customer Service Center at 476-0480.

Recycling
The ECUA encourages its customers to make use of the recycling drop-off sites owned and operated by Escambia County to recycle cardboard moving boxes, as well as all other recyclable items accepted at the sites.  Recycling prevents these materials from being disposed of in the landfill and saves energy.

If an ECUA customer is unable to take these materials to the drop-off recycling centers, the ECUA will provide curbside collection at no additional charge.  Customers may call ECUA Customer Service at 476-0480 for assistance.   However, if these materials are collected by the ECUA they will not be recycled, as they are commingled with other waste, and disposed of in the landfill.

The ECUA does not operate the drop-off sites.  Any questions or comments regarding these centers should be directed to the Escambia County Department of Solid Waste at 850-937-2160.

Yard Trash Pick-Up Information

  • Yard trash is defined as leaves, pine straw, grass clippings and small pruning.
  • Please do not use your ECUA garbage container for yard trash as this material must be collected separately from household refuse in compliance with state environmental laws.
  • For effective pick-up, yard trash must be containerized in plastic bags or standard garbage containers that do not exceed 32 gallons in size or weigh more than 40 lbs. when full.
  • Cut limbs, not exceeding 4 feet in length or 40 lbs. in weight, must be bundled in a pile no larger than 4 feet x 4 feet x 4 feet in size and must be placed within 2 feet of the curb for collection.

Each week, the ECUA will collect one pile of cuttings and up to 6 (six) bags or containers of yard trash which must be placed at the curb prior to 5:30 a.m. on your scheduled yard trash collection day.
